The program isn’t just for kids. Educational Group tours and workshops can be scheduled to take place during the work week and is currently available on a limited basis. A full curriculum and fundraising effort is in the planning stages so that this can be offered to all elementary school children in the City of Boston, free of charge. Home Schoolers are encouraged to email me if interested in volunteering on a weekly basis. To schedule an educational tour during the month of May 2008 or a day camp tour during July 2008, please contact me at info@gardengirltv.com. I was inspired to start a farm stand after reading Andy Lee and Patricia Foreman’s book Backyard Market Garden. It seemed to make sense as a logical extension of my gardening and has turned into one of the most enjoyable things I have ever done. My farm stand has allowed me to meet and make friends with lots of my neighbors and is clearly an important step forward in sustainable living. The more of our food we can get locally the better, so why not grow a little extra veggies and sell them to your neighbors? They’ll love it if you do. I still give away almost as much as I sell, but it seems to work itself out in the end. After I work my market garden and farm stand this year I hope to be able to give you a series of how to videos on market gardening and maybe even a book too. | ||||||||||||||||||||
