On a whim and a big sale sign today...I purchased 2 semi dwarf red delicious apple trees..While we have a nice sunny spot picked out next to the new barn...(By the way on sale for 18.74 at Home Depot)

I have no clue what I'm doing with them...Pollination? Pruning? Please help me get up to speed on this. It would be really nice to walk out to gather fruit for dessert.

It is important to have more then one type of apple tree so that they can cross pollinate. You may need to exchange one or get another kind of apple tree.
Blossoms develop in the spring and that is where you will get an apple. Pruning takes place after you harvest apples. It might take up to 4 years before your trees start fruiting. It's well worth it.
