Poor Koi

In my part of Texas, there are white tail deer in the area. There are also some exotic deer called axis deer - who are destructive.

Last night, the axis cleaned out my pond. They ate all the lily pads - ate all the blossoms, and left the poor koi with no cover from the hot sun.

It can sometimes be really frustrating to garden in the country.

I personally never worry about feeding the local critters. It happens, and the losses are usual temporary. Poor koi though, they are very hardy fish though.

I let feeder fish grow up and pretend they're koi.
