Chicken Diapers?! For real?

The hatchery from where I obtained my chickens sent out a notice of sale and clearance items. I was quite surprised to see...of all things...chicken diapers! Even had a picture of a hen wearing one. The diapers come in different colors too! ( God forbid my Rhode Island Red should wear a color that clashes with her beautiful red feathers, what will people think?)
Now please don't get me wrong. I LOVE my chickens and am enjoying them tremendously. To the point where my Facebook friends are threatening an intervention if I do not stop posting photos of my hens. But diapers? Seriously?

this is funny. Next thing you know they are going to have little sun hats to keep the sun out of the eyes. lol. The only questions I have is, wouldn't it interfere with egg laying? I don't have chickens yet (on the list for the spring) but is there any real reason to put a diaper on a chicken anyway?:confused:

I had somehow got the impression that these are for when you let your chicken into the house for a visit. :D
