Hi everyone. I had a great flock of Delaware birds for 3 years here in Dallas. I loved my girls but they met an untimely end at the jaws of some feral dogs here in my neighborhood. My coop was very minimalist, just a hoop house covered in tarps but it was perfectly suited to our uber hot summers and not so cold winters. I built it in a day with 190.00 including the tools I needed that I did not own. Here is a like to my blog with instructions on how I made it.

It was very sturdy, it withstood a F0 tornado one spring and was cool enough in the summer. It had no roost, my silly birds would not roost on a pole I had stuck in there, they just slept in a chicken pile on the ground.
I hope you enjoy this coop and it gives you some ideas on how to inexpensively keep your chickens.
