and in answer to a question about the video, I looked up light clay building
(Which is an alternative to cob that might suit more people).
I have seen light clay walls but I have not seen the process.
Basically it is a straw and very wet clay mix that is compressed and then allowed to dry. It is a bit like fiberboard (the clay binds the straw in place) and would be a lot lighter and probably quicker than cob.
It would have lower thermal mass than cob but it is probably much better insulation.
