I live in zone 4 (bordering on 3) and am trying to find places to order fruit trees and bushes. I'm familiar with some of the big sellers, like Raintree and Gurney's, but find it frustrating that they have few plants for my zone. I have found some great info online about varieties that grow in very cold climates, but I'm not sure where I would order them. I know I should look at local nurseries, but my options are pretty limited here.

Any suggestions?

I have one word for you............FED CO. Doesn't sound very garden-y though does it? It's a wonderful, monsanto free (no gmo's) catalog from folks in maine. They have a tree, seed and bulb catalog.
They are wonderful and friendly and I just love 'em!

You may want to consider St. Lawrence (http://www.sln.potsdam.ny.us/) and Winter Greenhouse (http://www.wintergreenhouse.com/). They both focus on cold hardy plants and perhaps will have something that you're looking for to grow.

Then there is a Canadian catalog called Gardens North (http://gardensnorth.com/site/) that might be helpful.

If you're interested in some roses, Spring Valley Roses (http://springvalleyroses.com/) have some that can survive -30.

I hope this helps.

Thanks to both of you! I'll check those out. Funny, I'd heard someone mention Fed Co before and I didn't know what it was - you're right, it doesn't sound very garden-y.:)

FedCo looks great. Also check out Stark Bros. and Nature Hills as well.
