Can anybody point me in the right direction for some info. on cellar construction? Ive look on the net but Im afraid not much luck. Is a cellar worth the effort? Is a cellar a dieing relic? Thanks in advance Jayson

Are you building a root celler?

The closest thing I've ever had to a root cellar was when we buried metal trash cans and stored our potato crop in them, then covered the tops with hay. But.. after a search on the net I came up with some links for you.

Hope these help!

:D Wow! I guess I gotta get better with the on line searches. Thank you so much. Ive tried to store the garden onions in the basement and in the closet the last couple of years with no luck at all, so I guess this spring it's all or nothin.
Im guessing a 8' x 15' should be plenty. (sure would be nice to go back 100 years and ask the great grandma's a thing or two) Thank's again
Anybody have anyother ideas or sugestion on the construction or use of a root cellar I'd love to hear it! Jayson

You're certainly welcome. And please let us know how it goes, I'd be interested to know how well building your own works out.

One of the first places I look for information is the Mother Earth News. This link will take you to a search of just their website that has 100 articles about cellars and tons of ideas on how to build. Hope this is helpful. Kim
