Thanks for giving us a spot to list our blogs...this will make it easier to check each other's experiences out.

I just finished posting how Jordan and I tapped a couple maple trees so we can make syrup this year. Kim

The updated blog shows some wonder syrup I made and my new (almost done) hoop house. The hoop house was supposed to be a simple project after watching Patti's video but then the husband got involved...anyway I wrote about it. Kim

Let me know if you need any help or don't understand anything. I may not be able to respond right away though since my husband has a lot of medical tests the next couple weeks and I am not sure how much I will be able to get online...I do need the stress release so will pop in to see what everyone is up as much as possible. My husband found the cutest little chainsaw on the clearance rack at Lowe's for me. I am not all the comfortable around the monster gas powered ones so he thought this one was right up my alley. It is powered by one of his batteries from his drill set and works really well trimming up small trees and brush. I put pictures on my blog. Kim http://plantoneonme.blogspot.com/2009/03/new-toy.html

I really like your site and appreciate you updating it! Does this chainsaw use battery?

The thing I like best is that the chainsaw is battery powered so it makes it lightweight and easy to start...no pulling and pulling and pulling on a string. I have bad shoulders so no pulling and lightweight is a must. My husband uses the type of tools where you get a large rechargeable battery that can go in any tool such as drill, circular saw, lights, and now my chainsaw. It worked really nice on branches that were 4" across (the max size I needed to cut). We have a small place in northern Michigan so it will come in handy to cut down saplings, trim branches and cut up brush. Since my husband will not be able to do these things this year, it will come in very handy for me. Kim

I made the most wonderful maple cream from some of my syrup! I have details on my blog. It is great as my husband has such a poor appetite and he loves this stuff. I can at least get him to eat toast and maple cream. Kim

My hoop house saves the day again! We had yet another snow since I planted out in the hoop house and the plants still look happy, healthy and are even putting on new growth. I tell you it is so worth the time especially since they cost so little to make. My husband built me 2 new raised beds and I plant on getting hoops for those for the fall to extend the growing season. Eventually I'd like to have a large 4 seasons garden...which I did a little by growing the salad greens indoors but I want even more food year round. Kim

Can you show me how to do it? I am "new" at blogging and I am learning my way! :)

Leyda, I am sure I did it the long way round since I am not at all techinologically inclined, but here is what I did...

I first visited Patti's Green Living TV Network and saw the widgetbox network (which I also have installed on my blog). There is a tab on there that says to add your blog. I hit the little + sign and followed the directions to add my blog and make a widget of my own. Or you can follow this link to go directly to the page http://www.widgetbox.com/network/green/join

You will need to make a screen name and password which will take you to a screen that you simply type in your url and as it states "we'll take care of the rest". Hope it works for you. Kim

OK I found an even easier way simply go here
http://www.widgetbox.com/ to make your widget. Kim

I was able to get outside for quite awhile on Saturday and get some recent pictures of the things growing in my hoop house. I am able to get a nice salad a day from my little plants and all my seeds have sprouted. I still cannot get pictures to post here so I put them on the blog to show you.

As an update on the medical front...my husband was almost done with all the pre-transplant testing only to get a huge kick in the teeth. They found a very large 6cm polyp in his colon that must be removed before proceeding any further. We see a surgeon tomorrow to see if it can be removed....if not they cannot proceed further. His chances of getting to transplant are slim at this point and all we can do is continue to pray. I'll post again as soon as I have time. Kim

I had a great Mother's Day with the kids and Jordan coming over to help move 6 yards of compost to the new raised beds. I updated the blog with lots of pictures. I hope you have a minute to check it out. Kim
