Guinea fowl are one of those things that you either adore them or despise them.. I personally loved them.. They can be very noisy, giving alarm at sometimes the most minor things.. Bird flying overhead, somebody coming up in the driveway, strange dog outside the fence, leaf blowing across the yard.. I think its cute, some people just find it annoying.. They are very loud though so be careful if you have neighbors close by.. You might find it cute but your neighbors might not..

They're also good flyers and can definitely get over a 6ft fence.. A net over their pen should keep them contained.. Or you can have them pinioned.. But most people don't like doing that since it's a procedure that takes off the very tip of the wing.. It can also be sometimes harder to get them to return to the coop every nite.. Mine always came back like clockwork.. But they were raised with a flock of chickens so I'm not sure if that had something to do with it..

Some people also say they're very ugly.. As chicks they have down all over just like a baby chicken.. But as they get to the adolescent stage, they loose all the feathers on their head and neck.. They get pretty weird looking during this stage.. But I still think they're really cute.. Maybe one of those, so ugly they're cute? I think I still have some pics of mine.. I'll see if I can find them..

If you hatch them, they are incubated for 28 days like a duck or turkey..

Hope this helps.. I say go for it and see if you like them.. Its the only way to know for sure.. If you don't like them, you can always cook them up or sell/give them away..

Ok, here are the only pics I could find of my guinea keets(not chicks).. I know I took pics when they were older, just don't know where they went.. You can google guineas to see what the adults look like..

In this one, two of the chicks are just starting to enter the adolescent stage..
