I am stuck. I am planting salsa garden. But I am stuck at the onion part. What kind of onions do you put in your salsa. I went to a web site today that had so many good recipes. Can some one help with what kind of onions to plant. They can you point me in the right direction on how to can them as well.
Thanks

Any large bulbed yellow or white onion will do fine. You could use sets to get a jump on them if you do not have plants already started.

onion planting times are really variable. You might check with your local extension agent to see when onions should be planted in your area. You can't necessarily go by the local nurseries - our nurseries still have onion sets for sale even thought we'll harvest before the end of April.
Good luck to you.

for salsa, I typically use green/spring onions. You can start the "sets" or the seeds.

I make a whole lot of salsa, and there are 2 things that I always use - red onions, and cilantro... I leave the cilantro out if I am making it for people I know don't like it, though.
