First you get the soil...

I am still experimenting with the pictures here is a couple of one of my raised beds. I have another behind the garage but put in poor soil and it needs a lot of ammending. Working on the old hubby to help me build more :)

When we moved into this house last Sept there was only 1 poor, mowed over hydrangea in the yard...unless you count the weeds someone called a lawn.

My tiny backyard before...

My 4 ft x 24 ft raised bed...

A very tasty improvement! When are you going to add in more? You have a perfect space for a wonderfull garden. It looks fantastic.

I was hoping to add much more this fall by gathering leaves etc to get a jump start...unfortunately my body is working against me and I will be having surgery soon. (Nothing serious, female issues) Guess it will have to wait until next year as time, money and my health permit.

This year I had to balance a shoulder injury against too much gardening. Unfortunately, I HAVE to work and need that shoulder...that is until I finally win the lottery (not holding my breath).

I use local kids for my compost projects.

Tip some of the local kids with cookies, sandwiches, whatever (I often give them all my bottle deposits as well) and Huck Finn them into making some compost bins and preserving your shoulder. The more leaves and stuff they bring over, the better the snacks and sandwiches. I sucker neices and newphews into my projects all the time. Use the simple wire method to make the bins, and place them where the new raised beds will go for next year.

Wouldn't it be nice if we could do this anywhere and not worry about liability....Yikes. Great idea, though, and I love the Huck Finn reference! The neighbor boy loves to "help" most of the time, even if it's not much help :)

I love the fabulous pictures! Gardens are so great. They give me a warm fuzzy. Reminds me of the days I spent in my grandpas garden/orchard which I am trying to recreate at my house.

I gotta scram and get back to work now that I have off the work track for a few hours. Opps!

Whomever else wanted to know this:
You go to "Quick links"
Then go to Edit profile
and THEN go to pictures/albums. It will
give you the option to upload photos.
