Hi all,
I live in Reno and was bitten hard by the garden bug a couple of years ago. Because we have a short growing season and it's very hot and dry here, it's been a little bumpy, but I'm starting getting the hang of it (soaker hoses are my savior!). Last summer I got huge aphid and squash bug infestations, but I ended up getting big, green, beautiful plants...and no fruit. Nonetheless, I'm giving it another go because I just can't help myself, and I have a feeling that this year will be better.
So far I have in the ground: sugar snap peas, lettuce, chard, potatoes, bell peppers, and tomatoes (both of the last ones with season starters). When it warms up I'll put in cantaloupe, spaghetti squash, cucumbers, basil, and green beans. Can't wait! I also convinced my mom to rip up her unkempt perennial garden to make a vegetable garden :). Spreading the love! Can't wait to hear your guys' experiences and get your advice!
