Thanks SimplyForties. I am having a lot of fun doing this garden. Yesterday I must have walked out to the garden 20 times just to look to see if anything was different or to see if anything had "popped" up.:)
Today, my wife ws fixing fajitas and needed some lettuce. I told her I would go out to the back forty to see if we had any lettuce ready. I harvested a big handful of leaf lettuce, and brought it in to her like I was some Greek God or something bringing in the veggies. The lettuce was very good by the way!

That's the reward, isn't it?! It's too hot here to grow salad greens outside but I have some in my basement garden under the lights. I love running down there for a handful whenever I need some. Makes it all worth it!

Sorry about our veggie loss MoniDew.:( Last night I went out to get something out of my truck about midnight and there was a small deer standing not 20 feet from the garden. I went running into the back yard and scared her off. I put up a little fence that I read about in a book using fishing line, and I haven't had any problems yet, but I figure they will figure it out before long. I haven't seen any rabbits in our yard or in our neighbors yards since we have moved here 4 years ago. Everywhere I have ever lived had rabbits but there are none here. Hopefully my little patch will be spared by the wild animals, but if they get to it before I do, then they probably needed more than I did.:)
